Kent Coast Psychotherapy

Time to talk

“Feeling real is more than existing; it is finding a way to exist as oneself... and to have a self into which to retreat for relaxation.”

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

Psychodynamic psychotherapy is based on the idea that we are all unconsciously influenced by our past.  Difficult or painful early experiences can create patterns of behaviour in later life that can negatively affect the way we relate to others, and impair our ability to cope with life’s ups and downs.  We may notice repeating patterns in our behaviour that may be distressing, and seem out of our control.
In therapy I work closely with you to become more aware of these patterns and explore how they may have been established, within a framework designed to foster independence and self-compassion.
As a psychodynamic psychotherapist I don’t give advice.  Instead therapy is a place of safety where your difficult feelings and emotions can be explored without judgment, and in confidence.  The therapeutic relationship will become a vital element of your therapy as it becomes a safe testing ground for finding healthier and more satisfying ways of being, and relating to others.

Time to talk

Sometimes there’s a specific reason to seek therapy, but not always. At any time in our lives we can find ourselves out of our depth, lonely, or just finding it hard to cope with everyday worries.  You may have lost someone important to you, and need to explore difficult feelings.  Or perhaps you are struggling with a close relationship, and need help to break destructive patterns of behaviour.  Or you may simply be feeling depressed or anxious.
Perhaps you feel ready to share some of your difficulties.  But it may simply be that you feel lost, and just need a safe, quiet space in which to think.
Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you might have, or if you would like to arrange an initial consultation in which we can find out together if therapy is right for you.
